Well known for its industrial and manufacturing history, Bermondsey is now a rich cultural and creative hub, conveniently located within easy reach of the City of London and the West-End. The building, which now comprises three beautifully refurbished apartments, started is life as a leather workshop and saddlery. More recently it was home and studio to the photographer Tif Hunter. The first floor apartment is accessed through the communal entrance shared with 18C. Re-imagined to create a completely unique lateral apartment. A new asymmetric glass extension at first floor level fills the large open plan kitchen and reception space with natural light. Thoughtfully arranged accommodation and a careful mix of materials create a wonderful space in which to live. The kitchen centers around a beautifully crafted brushed steel island, contrasting the oak flooring and exposed London stock brickwork. A unique feature is the creation of a fully glazed facçade, south-westerly in orientation, which fills the apartment with light. Particularly effective in the afternoon as the sun clips past the corner of the building. Thoughtfully created storage is provided throughout the apartment, practical solutions which do not interfere with the space in which you live. A multi function room which is as happy being a study or workspace, as it is as a guest bedroom. A Muphy bed is built in to the joinery.
